Is God weak or bad?
It is a fact that the world contains full of sufferings, bloodshed, famine, poverty, diseases etc. Almost all human being at some point in his/her life has to face one or more misery. Life is not a bed of roses. Some free-thinker or atheist/agonistic argue that “either God cannot prevent some suffering or God does not want to prevent any of it. If God cannot prevent some suffering, then God is weak. If God does not want to prevent any suffering, then God is bad. So, either God is weak or God is bad.”
Apparently it seems their arguments make sense! But we, human being, always think and see in a very short time perspective. Even the age of this universe, as per latest scientific calculation, is almost 14 billion years. We, on average, live on this earth from 40 to 80 years and this very short life span is mixed up usually joys and sorrows.
Of course, 40 to 80 years is very tiny span of time as compared to 14 billion years. And nobody knows what God was doing before the Big Bang! Is it a cyclic universe? Probably human being will never know it for sure. If we would not suffer in life at all, we will never know exactly what real joy is!
Suffering itself has no independent existence; it is just the absence of peace, joy and happiness. Suffering could actually be something good. Life crisis, triggered by suffering, makes us think about our goal in life and the purpose of life itself. We finite, mortal and tiny human being will never understand fully the ultimate wisdom and glory of God.
God is not weak but almighty.
[The holy Quran 2:209] If you backslide, after the clear proofs have come to you, then know that GOD is ALMIGHTY, Most Wise.
[2:260] Abraham said, “My Lord, show me how You revive the dead.” He said, “Do you not believe?” He said, “Yes, but I wish to reassure my heart.” He said, “Take four birds, study their marks, place a piece of each bird on top of a hill, then call them to you. They will come to you in a hurry. You should know that GOD is ALMIGHTY, Most Wise.”
[3:6] He is the One who shapes you in the wombs as He wills. There is no other god besides Him; the ALMIGHTY, Most Wise.
[3:62] Absolutely, this is the narration of the truth. Absolutely, there is no god except GOD. Absolutely, GOD is the ALMIGHTY, Most Wise.
[14:47] Do not think that GOD will ever break His promise to His messengers. GOD is ALMIGHTY, Avenger.
[22:74] They do not value GOD as He should be valued. GOD is the Most Powerful, the ALMIGHTY.
[59:1] Glorifying GOD is everything in the heavens and the earth, and He is the ALMIGHTY, Most Wise.
However, God asks us to support Him to get His support in exchange. God gives us free will so; we are free to support God or not to support Him.
[22:40] … Absolutely, GOD SUPPORTs those who SUPPORT Him. GOD is Powerful, Almighty.
[47:7] O you who believe, if you SUPPORT GOD, He will SUPPORT you, and strengthen your foothold.
We can even lend God. Though God is the ultimate inheritor of both earth and entire universe, God is so generous and great that He gives us power to lend Him! We must ponder His generosity and greatness.
[The Quran 2:245] Who is the one who would lend God a good loan, for Him to multiply it manifold? God withholds and also bestows, and to Him you shall be returned.
[5:12] God had taken a covenant from the Children of Israel, and we raised among them twelve chieftains. And God said, “I am with you, so long as you observe the Salat, give the Zakat, believe in My messengers and support them, and lend God a good loan. I will then remit your bad deeds, and admit you into gardens with rivers flowing beneath. Anyone among you who disbelieves after this, has strayed off the right path.”
[57:11] Who would like to loan GOD a good LOAN, to have it multiplied for him manifold, and end up with a generous recompense?
Many unscrupulous people accuse God of having arrogance! They are unaware about God and His qualities indeed. God is all powerful but He is neither arrogant nor boastful. That is why though God created us, He seeks support and loan from us for our own good! God is indeed the greatest. So, it is very much wrong to assume that God is weak or bad.
